Mov.ie Website Search Rules

Searching for a Movie on the Mov.ie database is defined as follows:

Definitions:

"Site Search"

shall mean a search through the Mov.ie website catalogue whereby you enter a search pattern into the Search Box displayed on the Mov.ie website.

"Domain Name Search"

shall mean a search through the Movie website catalogue where the search pattern is entered as part of the domain name at the following search domains; www.text.mov.ie or text.mov.ie where "text" is the search pattern used.

"Single Movie Display"

shall mean the display provided to you where the details of the movie searched against is displayed to you or where you are redirected to a non-mov.ie website.

"Multi-Movie Display"

shall mean the display provided to you as a result of your search displaying a list of movies showing the title, year and movie summary from which you can hyper-link to the Single Movie Display.

Rules:

1. Searches may be requested by either submitting a Site Search or Domain Name Search.
2. For a Domain Name Search only use the characters "a" to "z", "A" to "Z" and "0" to "9" in your search "text". Omit all other characters from your search pattern.
3. Where the search pattern entered matches only one movie title then you will be referred to the Single Movie Display.
4. If a search pattern matches multiple movie titles then the Multi-Movie Display will be shown.
5. If a search pattern exactly matches the movie title then that will be treated as a single movie match unless there are multiple movies with the same or similar titles.
6. In all searches uppercase and lowercase letters are considered equivalent.
7. Multiple Movie Displays are in title ASCII sort order.
8. Movies are searched on the true title name and the condensed title name (if applicable).
9. The condensed title name is constructed by taking the title and removing all characters except "a" to "z", "A" to "Z" and "0" to "9".
10. If more than one movie matches the condensed title name yet neither matches the full title then these will be treated as multiple matches.
